Areas of taxpertise – Gordon has significant expertise in corporate taxation, offering support and advice to clients on a wide range of areas, including buy-ins and buy-outs, mergers and acquisitions, demergers and disposals, employee share incentives and international tax advice to both inbound and outbound corporate clients. Gordon also works on a voluntary basis exploring areas of tax policy with the CIOT and is currently focussing on a legislative review of the rules around share buybacks by private companies.
Other skills – Gordon also specialises in Corporate Finance, helping clients with transactions to ensure they get the optimum outcome. He also helps clients to understand their accounts and the key performance indicators for their business, which can assist in focussing the client on key areas for development.
Favourite piece of tax planning advice – A vendor-initiated management buyout (VIMBO) is an attractive succession planning option, where the next generation of family can invest a small amount (say, £1,000) and the current owners would receive market value, which would be paid out of future profits of the business.
Outside of Work – Gordon enjoys classical music and plays the cornet with his local brass band, Kingdom Brass, performing in venues across the UK.
