The Importance Of Tax Planning
We recruited a manufacturing company with a turnover of just over £15m. At the original discussion on how we could help which we delivered face to face; tax was identified as a critical area of focus with the client citing lack of proactivity as the main reason they were looking for a new adviser.
How we helped our client – and why they chose EQ
Free initial meeting
Our planning started before we were appointed, and we held a meeting with the potential client in order to get to know them and what they were trying to achieve as well as trying to understand the family dynamic in the business.
Regular meetings
We agreed to meet with the client quarterly, to discuss all their business needs and not just about tax. Regular interaction created the relationship which allows us to provide tax based ideas of real relevance to our client.
Technical updates
As a bare minimum, our EQ Taxperts prepare a Quarterly Tax Bulletin which summarises key tax issues facing businesses and individuals alike. We supplement that with regular contact from our team reminding client of deadlines, rule changes etc.
Our engagement team
We are unlike any other firm of our size in that we do not operate a separate tax department. Instead, each client is allocated a Partner, a Manager and a Controller. The team looks after all aspect of our client’s business and personal affairs. By having 3 points of contact, our response times are typically the same day, and the three members of our team speak regularly to ensure the advice provided to this client is highly relevant.
Recent feedback from the client was “EQ has been a breath of fresh air, exactly what I was looking for”.
