Our client is a specialist provider of bespoke agricultural machinery.
What type of work does the company do?
There are many providers of basic agricultural machinery to the arable farming market but the particular geographical conditions found in Scotland mean that many of these pieces of kit do not function properly. Our client provides design and implementation solutions to ensure that expensive machinery works in the challenging environment.
What R&D work was completed?
The company undertook several major redesign projects for customers in the root vegetable market in Scotland. There are many unique challenges in Scotland, such as the hilly terrain, the soft soil (compared to much harder more compacted soil in Europe, where many of the basic machinery is manufactured), the manual input required and the efficiency/flexibility of the kit. The company took basic unworkable large machinery and redesigned it into efficient, flexible and fully functioning equipment.
What was the outcome?
As a result of the 2-year R&D claim, our client received tax savings of £89,379.
