Our client is a leading player in the development of mapping technology, particularly in its use on modern media platforms such as mobile phones and tablets. The company employs specialist design teams to provide the mapping solutions, allowing it to compete with the likes of Google.
What type of work does the company do?
In providing mapping solutions, the speed of loading and the customer experience are always uppermost in the minds of the development team. Therefore, the company assesses map building, predictive models and optimising data storage, as the high-resolution graphics on these apps can make the usage of a system very clunky.
What R&D work was completed?
In the year under review, the company developed a solution to ensure its software would work consistently across a series of devices such as Android and Apple. This included the layout, user interface and style. In addition, traditional mapping looks at external landscapes and buildings but the company has undertaken a review of internal mapping to, for example, assist in navigating around a huge office building or museum. The developers use cutting-edge, innovative ideas to manage data storage and provide easy yet consistent navigation.
What was the outcome?
As a result of the R&D claim, our client received tax savings of £216,231.
